After a restful week spent back at home I geared up to head back down to L.A. for the second U.S. Cup of the season. This time I opted for a 1 hour flight instead of 7 hours in the car. That was a good decision. The weekend was forecasted to be wet and muddy which was going be a bit different from the 90 degree temps and moon dust filled trails at Fontana the weekend before. The course was full of extremely steep and punchy climbs, slippery off camber turns, with some rock gardens thrown in somewhere in there. Conditions were already looking pretty slick on course for the pre ride so we were all anticipating a slippery, muddy race with some definite hike-a-bike sections. |
